What Filters Need Regular Changing in My Mercedes-Benz?

There are four primary filters that need regular changing in your Mercedes-Benz and in every other European automobile for that matter. East Coast EuroWerks explains that filter changes are a regular part of your Benz’s service schedule, so as long as you bring your vehicle to our shop when it’s time for factory-scheduled maintenance, we’ll make sure your filters are clean and replace any that aren’t. Let’s talk about the four primary automotive filters and their service schedules below.

Air Filter

The air filter needs to be changed every 12,000 miles or at least once a year. It’s important to change the air filter when it needs it because your engine performance and fuel mileage will suffer otherwise. Tasked with keeping the air that flows into the combustion chamber clean, the air filter can get dirty fairly quickly. It filters the air that blows into your engine through the vehicle’s grille and intake vents.

Cabin Air Filter

The cabin’s air filter is designed to keep the air you breathe clean. It is located behind the dashboard and it works tirelessly to ensure you always have clean air blowing into the passenger cabin through the vents. This filter stays cleaner much longer than the engine’s air filter does. Usually, your Benz doesn’t need its cabin filter changed until you’ve driven 30,000 miles. Plan to have it changed then.

Fuel Filter

Whether you drive a Mercedes diesel engine or gasoline one, the fuel filter is a double-filter that makes certain the fuel is purified before it flows through the lines to the fuel injectors. You cannot afford to have dirty fuel in the combustion chamber. This will affect your engine performance and gunk up the cylinders. Plan to have the fuel filter changed every 30,000 miles or every other year at a maximum.

Oil Filter

The oil filter needs to be changed every time you bring your Benz in for an oil change. This filter is tasked with cleaning up all the grime the oil picks up while it is circulating through your Mercedes’ engine. This ensures the oil is cleaned completely of this grime before it recirculates. The oil filter cleans it each time as the oil cycles through your engine while you drive. It needs to be changed the most out of all of the filters.
